Kevin O’Donovan
Technology Evangelist
Kevin O’Donovan is an independent Technology Evangelist, Strategic Technology Scout and Outside-In Advisor working at the intersection of emerging technology, industry and business strategy. He brings decades of experience across the technology and energy sectors.
He helps organisations understand emerging technology, challenge assumptions and turn technical insight into clearer strategy, stronger communication and practical action.
Kevin is particularly effective at bridging the gap between technical specialists and senior executives. He can level-set complex subjects—from artificial intelligence, digital twins and industrial metaverse technologies to energy systems, robotics and emerging computing—in language that is accessible without dumbing down the technology or losing the technical audience. He helps both sides understand the implications, trade-offs and practical decisions involved, while providing constructive outside-in challenge.
His work combines technology scouting, executive advisory, event storytelling, interviews and original field-created content. Rather than simply recycling vendor material or commenting from the sidelines, Kevin frequently works directly from exhibition floors, demonstrations, factories, conferences and executive conversations. He captures first-hand developments, tests the story being presented and connects individual technologies to wider market and industry trends.
His work increasingly includes designing and facilitating technically informed workshops, executive roundtables and closed-door industry conversations, then helping organisations interpret and communicate the implications.
His field discoveries inform his strategic advisory work, while his executive experience helps him ask better questions, identify important trends and understand their implications.
Kevin is known for being positive, energetic, approachable and easy to work with. He brings humour and momentum to conversations while retaining the confidence to ask direct questions and challenge established thinking. His senior executive experience means he is comfortable working across technical, commercial and leadership teams and challenging ideas regardless of title or hierarchy.
Independence is central to his work. Kevin works across vendors, startups, industrial companies, countries and technology ecosystems without being tied to one particular camp. He can be enthusiastic without becoming a cheerleader and sceptical without becoming hostile.
Kevin began his career in software development and technical pre-sales before moving into technology evangelism, strategic marketing, international sales and senior leadership roles at Compaq, HP and Intel.
He is the founder of A Bit of This and That, through which he provides technology scouting, advisory and advocacy services with an independent, outside-in perspective.
